SET-UP

You will need to follow these instructions only once as long as all testing is done on the same WiFi network.

  1. Make sure the IPVoice application is installed on the iPhone(s).

  2. Join the WiFi network

    • Go to Settings > WiFi.

    i. Follow steps as indicated in below illustration.

If the phone is already connected to the desired network, touch that network and record the phone’s unique IP address, skip to step 3.  To connect to desired network, continue.

    • Choose the appropriate network. If the network is encrypted choose Other.
    • Enter the name and security password for that network. Then click join
    • Once you have joined, touch the network and record the IP address of the phone
  3. If using two iPhones*, repeat the steps for both phones. In the case of running the conference test, three (3) iPhones will be required. It is best to perform each step on all phones at the same time as you will need information from one phone to be entered on the other phone.

  4. Run the IPVoice test application (IPV)

  5. First time only: Change the IP address field to the match the IP address of the OTHER phone (the one that this phone will be communicating with.) The IP address will be stored for subsequent calls after the first call is turned on and subsequently turned off.

  6. In the case of conference testing*, one iPhone is used to engage the conference (phone A), input IP address of second (phone B) and third (phone C) iPhones. Destination phones: Input only the IP address of the conference initiating iPhone (A) in the “Dest IP Addr 1” field on both the “B” and “C” designated iPhones .

* See quick start guide for block diagrams.

RUNNING THE TEST

  1. Start the app on both phones

  2. By default, the test is set up to run an end-to-end voice test using the G.711 mu-law codec. If that is the test you wish to run, click Call Active to turn on the test.

  3. If you wish to use a different codec or run a different test, use the picker (which looks like a slot machine) to select the appropriate settings BEFORE setting the call to the active state.

  4. When the test is complete, click the Call Active to off. This will exit the application.

Note that SRTP is not implemented in the test iPVoice application.
