Adaptive Digital’s VoIP Software for WB IP Phone Applications

If you are interested in designing a feature-rich IP phone, leveraging best-in-class, field proven DSP software running on the right silicon, you have found the solution that you seek.

Adaptive Digital’s Wideband IP Phone software provides the functionality required for today's executive enterprise desktop speakerphones. It includes acoustic echo cancellation for full duplex speakerphone capability support for three-way conferencing and support for low bit rate and wideband codecs.

DESCRIPTION

The TNETV1050/55/56/57 features the market-leading programmable TMS320C55x™ Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and a MIPS32™ 4KEc™ processor, combined with Adaptive Digital’s field-proven VoIP software.

The Wideband IP Phone software runs on the TI TNETV105X family of VoIP phone chips. The TNETV1050/1055 is a communications processor based on a MIPS32 RISC processor along with a C55x DSP. This device, which has a rich peripheral set architected specifically for IP Phone applications, keeps BOM cost to a minimum and reduces the time and complexity associated with developing an IP Phone. Combined with Adaptive Digital’s IP Phone software, the TNETV1050/1055 provides a level of hardware/software integration that enables rapid design of a high-end phone while leaving the designer with sufficient flexibility to develop a market-differentiable end product.

Designed for high-volume, cost sensitive end products, the TNETV105X achieves its cost efficiency by integrating a control processor, a DSP, and all the necessary peripherals onto a single SoC. With such a high degree of integration comes complexity. The Wideband IP Phone software manages the DSP and audio peripheral complexity. Available Linux and VxWorks ports simplify both the MIPS processor programming and the remaining peripheral interfaces.

Adaptive Digital’s VoIP Software provides an efficient framework for real-time voice processing that has been pre-integrated and rigorously tested. When a customer purchases a wideband phone, voice quality is by definition very important to that customer. Wideband audio clearly (pun intended) brings a new dimension to the telephone experience. But wideband audio is just one variable in the voice quality equation. The remaining voice quality enhancing features in the wideband phone software– the acoustic echo canceller, automatic gain control, noise reduction, and voice activity detection – are tightly integrated in order to achieve the best possible overall voice quality.

HARDWARE

The TNETV1050/1055 is a communications processor based on a MIPS32 Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) processor along with a C55x DSP. This device has a rich peripheral set architected specifically for IP Phone applications, which reduces the bill of materials cost, time and complexity associated with developing an IP Phone.

The TNETV1050/1055 combines the key processor, communication, and peripheral functions necessary to build a basic or advanced IP Phone. The TNETV1050/1055 architecture uses advanced design features to provide flexibility and performance throughput, while conserving power consumption.  Combined with Adaptive Digital IP Phone software, the TNETV1050/1055 provides a complete hardware/software solution capable of reducing system design cycle times.
