H.264 Encoder

The baseline profile of ITU-T H.264 is extensively used for achieving good video quality at low bit-rates and reasonable computational complexity in applications such as video telephony, surveillance, and video streaming. This data sheet contains the features supported and the performance numbers for Ittiam H.264 baseline profile encoder on TI’s C64x+ platform.

Features

  1. Produces streams compliant with H.264 Baseline Profile up to level 3.

  2. The interface is TI XDMI and XDAIS compliant.

  3. The encoder is compliant with TI IDMA3 interfaces and TI ACPY3 callbacks.

  4. Supports YUV420 planar and YUV422i as raw video input formats.

  5. The encoder supports prediction from multiple reference pictures (Max - 2)

  6. For fast recovery from channel losses at the decoder end without latency or frame rate impact, the encoder supports the (Adaptive Intra Refresh) AIR mode.

  7. Supports a low delay version of rate control to generate a (Constant Bit Rate) CBR stream.

  8. According to the needs of the application the toolsets in the encoder can be enabled / disabled.

  9. Configurable in-loop deblocking operation.

  10. Supports all MB partition sizes 16x16, 16x8, 8x16 and 8x8.

  11. Supports quarter-pixel accurate motion estimation.

  12. Configurable search-range to optimize internal memory.

  13. Configurable Constrained Intra Prediction mode for Intra MBs, which can be switched ON for error recovery through AIR.
